Pokerstars Asia Pacific Poker Tour
The Pokerstars Asia Pacific Poker Tour or APPT is now in it's third season and has quickly become the most up and coming poker tour in the world. The tour starts in China and visits Seoul, Sydney, New Zealand and many other venues before coming the a climax in Sydney Australia. The APPT is starting to attract some of the biggest names in poker with players like World Series of Poker champ Joe Hachem and Pokerstars pro Lee Nelson regulars in most of the events. The buyins on the Pokerstars Asia Pacific Poker Tour as usually slightly less than the EPT and range from just a few thousand dollars to $5,000 which is the buyin for the main event in Sydney. Qualify For The APPT Online
There are a number of ways to qualify for the APPT online but the only you will find satellites is Pokerstars. Like usual when it comes to live events there are both steps satellites as well as MTT qualifiers. The steps satellites to the APPT run on a regular basis at Pokerstars and step 1 has just a $7.50 or 500 FPP buyin. There are 6 steps in total with the winner of step 6 taking home the live event package worth $5,000. You can buyin directly to any step but buying into step 6 is going to cost you $2,100. There is more than one seat on offer in all step 6 games.
If you are not a SNG player then there are multiple ways to qualify via MTT satellites. The most popular method of qualification is via the $5.60 hyper turbo satellites which feed into the main event qualifier which is a $22 rebuy tournament. The buyins to the qualifiers and main event satellite do vary based on the buyin amount of the live event. APPT Winners
Season 1 of the APPT saw 4 winners crowned in Manila, Seoul, Macau and Sydney. The first ever APPT event was won by Brett Parise who took home $179,775 from a $600,000 prize pool. However the biggest winner during season 1 was Grant Levy who won the Sydney Grand Final event for a massive $850,000. With season 2 came more runners and bigger prize pools.
There were 5 events in total and the biggest winner was Martin Rowe who took down the Grand Final event in Sydney for $648,000. A close second was Edward Sabat who won $453,851 at the Macau stop of the APPT. An incomplete season 3 has so far seen two winners crowned Dermot Blain who won $541,072 in Macau and Simon Watt who took down the Auckland leg of the APPT for $154,043.
The biggest ever APPT winner is expected to be crowned at this years Grand Final in Sydney.
